iPEP Project Edition. An On-Line FINDING & Collaboration System
Collaboration: “The source of all productivity”
According to David Coleman and Stewart Levine in their book Collaboration 2.0 , the key to getting things done in today’s business world comes down to a holistic approach of 3 critical factors:
1. People
2. Process
3. Technology
Coleman and Levine state:
“Relationships, trust, behavior, and attitude are all the ’soft stuff’, and are not within the mindset of most software vendors…often the [software] ’solutions’ don’t solve the real problem, and as a result, they are left unused and abandoned…So if the technology people are not dealing with this ’soft stuff’, whose responsibility is it?”
Barbara Hemphill has been saying for 30 years…”organizing is not about the ’stuff’…it’s about the people”…and her most widely known mantra…”Together We Are Better” is more relevant today than ever before. In fact, the term “collaborate” means to “co-labor”, to work together.
As the business landscape shifts toward “anytime, anywhere” access to information and people, there’s never been a more critical time to have what Barbara calls a “centrally-understood filing system”–a place where everyone can quickly access what they need, when they need it in order to accomplish their work (and enjoy their lives)!
This is especially important when other people are involved– an assistant or partner, committee members, department colleagues, clients, vendors or entire companies. Now it goes beyond just being able to access a document at the right time. It becomes paramount that collaborators, whether located in physical proximity, or as virtual teams across town, or across the country–can work together effectively.
But how is this possible when each individual is struggling with their own messy desk and disorganized filing cabinets? How can information be shared in an organized way when the individuals responsible for the information can’t find it?
That’s where I come in. Contact me for a complimentary organizing assessment and iPEP presentation.
